Everyone has used it at least once in their life, a train. After hauling passengers from one station to another a train needs maintenance. Since The Netherlands has one of the busiest and most complex train networks in the world, you can imagine that this is a though puzzle to organize. In order to perform the maintenance the organization NedTrain is setup in The Netherlands.
In this case study you will visit the local maintenance location here in Eindhoven to see with your own eyes how maintenance is performed. Next to that you will be working in groups on a case study about how to plan maintenance locations on the rail network such that the overall costs are as low as possible.
For this case study pre-knowledge on the course 1BK50 Algorithmic Programming for Operations Management is preferred. Free lunch and an award for the best group will be provided. Hope to see you all the 16th of February!
